Baileys Suffolk female sale on November 29 @ 1 pm
The 17th annual production sale from the highly acclaimed Baileys Suffolk flock takes place next weekend (Saturday 29th November) on-farm at Culcommon, Batterstown, County Meath, commencing at 1pm.
The catalogue includes guest consignments from the Carragh flock, owned by Gerry Killilea, Claregalway, County Galway; the Castlewood flock, property of Martin Butler, Ballymena, County Antrim; the Celtic flock, owned by George and Concessa Prendergast, Ballykeena, County Carlow; Trevor Burke’s De Bruca flock based at Tuam, County Galway; the Errigal flock, property of Seamus Browne, Letterkenny, County Donegal; and L and D Aiken’s New Wells flock based at Dromara, County Down.
This is one of the most anticipated sales of 2014, offering new and established flock owners an opportunity to secure some of the best bloodlines in Europe from leading flocks in Ireland.
Boasting a total entry of 90 lots, the catalogue comprises of 56 gimmers, 5 ewe lambs and 29 ewes.
The gimmers on offer are daughters of leading sires such as the 12,000gns Rhaeadr Rastafari, Cairness Commandeur, Clyda Cockatoo, Teeshan Phelps, Cairness See the Stars, Carragh Puma, the 2010 Sire of the Year Cairness Liam, the 5,500gns Cairness Bolt, and the 2011 Irish National Champion Errigal Simply the Best.
Baileys Rock Solid and the 17,000gns Cairness Diamond Geezer are behind the breeding of the five ewe lambs consigned by the New Wells flock. These lambs are bred from dams by Boreland Buddah, and the 20,000gns Cairness Achievement – national champion in 2009.
The ewes on offer range in age from January 2004 to March 2012, and are scanned in-lamb or suitable for an ET flushing programme. They are daughters of top Suffolk rams including Cairness New Approach, Baileys Buccaneer, Baileys Supervalue, Baileys Masterpiece, the 70,000gns Rhaeadr Rossi – Edinburgh champion in 2006 and male champion at the Royal Highland Show in 2007; and Castlewellan Sportsman, a son of the noted 48,000gns Strathisla Dylan.
Services sires included in the catalogue are Baileys Balotelli, Cairnton the Cracker, Sitlow Sergeant, Cairness Bolt, Baileys God Send, Cairness Thor, Cairness Diamond Jubilee, Carragh Puma, and the 5,000gns Solwaybank Razzle Dazzle.
All entries are eligible for immediate export. Sheep purchased for export to flocks in Great Britain and Europe will be delivered to Carlisle free or charge.
