A packed Auction Ring at the Monmouthshire Livestock Centre saw prices top at 3,200gns for the Champion Ewe Lamb from Myfyr Evans, Rhaeadr, sired by Carony Cha Ching and out of a Rhaeadr ewe, she was purchased by the Judge Gareth Jones, for his Rowlestone Flock. Next best call was for the Reserve Champion Ewe Lamb, also shown by Myfyr Evans, by Cha Ching and out of a Lakeview dam, she sold at 3,000gns to S Elsworthy, Chumleigh, Devon.
Ewe lambs continued the strong trade when Gary M Owen (Morris) sold to a top of 2,200gns for a lamb by Claycrop Colada and out of a Morris ewe, selling to Harry Lyons, Congleton, with another from the same Flock at 2,000gns, sired by Morris Medellin, sold to Dafydd Jones (Frongoy). Myfyr Evans sold another at 1,800gns to J Davis, Swansea.
Topping the Shearling ewes at 1,500gns was one from Ross Lawrence (Roundacre), a Strathbogie Magic Mike daughter and inlamb to Castleisle Blackadder, selling to RD Chesters Ltd, Herefordshire.
Two sheep sold at 1,400gns, the first a Shearling ewe from Dafydd Jones (Frongoy), a Stockton Snipers Son daughter and inlamb to Ballynacannon Flashman, she sold to P Brooks, Bath, and then for a Ewe lamb from Oliver Sparks (Homeland), sired by Pyeston PI Staker, she sold to R Western, Pontyclun, Glamorgan.
Dafydd Jones sold further Shearling ewes at 1,350gns, a Strathbogie Never Say Never daughter and inlamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, taken by Penycoed Farm, Nant Y Caws; 1,150gns, a Myddle Spartacus daughter, inlamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz selling to RD Chesters Ltd, and 1,000gns, another Strathbogie Never Say Never daughter, inlamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, she sold to HJ Morris, Crickhowell. Ross Lawrence sold another Shearling ewe at 1,200gns, a Strathbogie Magic Mike daughter and inlamb to Castleisle Blackadder, selling to J Davis, Swansea. Harley Turner (Harley) sold one at 1,100gns, a Sportsmans Liquid Gold daughter and inlamb to Howgillfoot Harvest Gold, taken by SA Williams, Brecon, with another at 950gns. Oliver Sparks sold a Shearling at 1,000gns, a Frongoy Mad Max daughter, inlamb to Howgillfoot Viper, selling to F Hendrie, Talgarth.
The Flock Ewes topped at 1,000gns for the 2nd prize entry from Huw Thomas (Penygarn), a Seagrave Anniversary daughter, inlamb to Bridgeview Beat Em Up, selling to DM Griffiths Swansea. Next best at 900gns from Dora Wyn & Ioan Rhys Jones-Evans (Islwyn), a Limestone Legacy daughter, inlamb to Ballynacannon Flashman, she sold to J Davis, Swansea. Dafydd Jones topped at 880gns with a Ballynacannon McGregor daughter, she was inlamb to Rhaeadr Razzmatazz, and was taken by R Francis, Ruthin, with Mike Davies & Sons (Safaddan) selling the 1st prize Ewe at 850gns to DAL Davies, Tregaron, a Lakeview Black Gold daughter, inlamb to Carony The Conqueror, who took another at 760gns. Dafydd Jones sold another at 850gns, a Strathbogie Rock On Tommy, and inlamb to Ballynacannon Flashman to RD Chesters Ltd.
