On Friday 5th May, 2023 our Club once again were able to hold our Carcass Competition having been cancelled over the past few years because of Covid and lack of entries.

“Many thanks to Tom Stocking: (Midland and Eastern Breed Promotion Committee Member) for sending in this report. Congratulations and many thanks to everyone who took part and who made this event happen, fantastic job done by the East Anglian Suffolk Sheep Club, promoting the Suffolk Breed”

Kevin O’Donoghue, Mid & Eastern Counties Branch Chair

This year the Club held the competition at HG Blakes Ltd, Felthorpe, Norwich by kind permission of Mr. Andrew Clark. The Club were thrilled to have 35 entries which comprised of 21 Pure Suffolk lambs and 14 Suffolk Cross Lambs. The crosses were by a Suffolk Ram.

The Judge was Mr. Tim Leigh (AQM) assisted by Hamish Beaton. Tim was very impressed with the quality of carcasses he had to judge. Our Club want to give special thanks to the Main Sponsor, Chris Meekins Ruminant Nutrition Ltd, plus sponsorship from Anglia Quality Meat, Animax and Shearwell. Due to the extensive area that the Club covers, thanks must go to Tom Stocking for transporting several of the lambs to the Venue.

The Presentation took place at 6 p.m. with Tim Leigh talking to members about his decisions and placing. Chris Partridge thanked the Sponsors and Andrew Clark for all their hard work in making it a huge success.
