The fourth Big Bang Export sale saw a flying trade with Suffolk females in demand in all corners of Europe, a total of 54 exhibits finding homes in Belgium, France, Holland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and a further 20 being exported to Southern Ireland
Leading the day’s trade was the first gimmer in the Shannagh run from Andrew & Richard Wilson, Co Donegal. Sired by the 9000gn Limestone Another Level, her maternal sisters have sold previously to 6500gns at the 2021 Big Bang Sale. She was scanned carrying a single to the 200,000gn breed record holder Salopian Solid Gold. The bidding both in the ring and online was rapid and the gavel eventually fell at 10,000gns to Cliodhna Mccaffery and Dominic McCrystal. The Wilson duo sold their second gimmer for 2500gns to average an impressive 6250gns.
The next best came from leading stock person Alastair Gault’s Forkins flock. He sold his lead gimmer for 8000gns to Philip Gurney, a daughter of the €44,000 Ballinatone Show Stopper. She sold in lamb to 4600gn Oakbridge Opportunity. Forkins second gimmer fetched 5200gns, also in lamb to Oakbridge Opportunity, selling to John Trimble. Forkins lead gimmer in their second run hit the 5000gns mark, selling to A Breen, again in lamb to Oakbridge Opportunity. The Forkins flock sold 14 gimmers to average 26525gns.
The Ballynacannon flock sold their lead gimmer for 4500gns, she sold carry twins to Limestone Springbok to A & R Wilson, Shannagh flock. A Strathbogie Ghost Rider daughter sold for 3000gns to L&M Liggett carrying a single to Limestone Springbok. Mr Taylor’s run of 17 gimmers sold to average 1700gns.
Andrew Moses’s Blackstown flock sold his Crewelands Cruncher daughter for 4200gn, she sold carrying a single to Tullywinney Hurricane to Creus, Spain. Blackstowns 2024 show gimmer sold for 2200gns to L&M Liggett carrying a set of twins to Tullywinney Hurricane.
Duncan’s flock topped at 2600gns for a 1 crop ewe to Alastair Gault carrying a single to Forkins Master Plan. Ducan’s gimmers topped at 1300gns to Philip Savage.
Keith and Sharon Johnston’s Rossbrook flock topped at 2500gns to Rona Burke, she scanned carrying triplets to the 15000gns Ballynacannon Bobby Dazzler NI. Rossbrook flock enjoyed a steady trade averaging 1735gns
Benrafton Flock topped at 1500gns for their lead gimmer, selling to Craig Walace in lamb with a pair to Jubilee Jethro. Benraftons aged ewe sold for 1400gns, this time finding a new home in Spain with Nacho Acebal.
First time exhibitor Alan Kilpatrick of the Convoy Flock hit the 1600gns mark twice. First at that price was his lead gimmer by Tolgus Top Gun selling to Daniel Pelaez. She sold carrying a pair to the 75000gns Cairton Chaos. His second at that price was a Birness Hustler daughter carrying a pair to Cairton Chaos, selling to Graca.
Patrick Grant’s Craigdoo flock topped at 1400gns for a Blackbrae Humdinger ewe selling to W Lennox
Ewe lambs were a serious trade, topping at 5500gns, for the pick of the Carony flock from L & M Liggett. A Birness Thunder II daughter, she went across the water to the Sportsmans flock of Boden & Davies, Stockport. Their second in was a Sportsmans Scholesy daughter who sold for 2000gns. She also found a new home across the pond with Jim and Jenni Cannons Redbrae flock. The Liggett family’s run of 12 ewe lambs averaged 1810gns.
The Forkins flock appear again with the next best, an Annakisha Bright Eye daughter out of a Birness Bacardi dam. She joins the Mullinvale flock of the McMenamin family for 4000gns.
The Ballynacannon flock was back in the money again with two Limestone Springbok daughters hitting 4000gns and 3800gns. These two find a new home in sunny Portugal with the Williams Flock.
