The 10th anniversary saw trade topping at 14,000gns for a ewe lamb from the Birness flock. Their first ewe lamb in the ring, a Crewelands Megastar daughter out of a homebred Limestone Legacy daughter. She sold to Mr Stephen Cobbald, Acton, Suffolk. Their second ewe lamb in by Dunfell Dynamite sold at 3500gns to Craig Paterson. The Birness team enjoyed a steady trade with their gimmers earlier in the sale topping at 3000gns to MJ Bignal. This Forkins Firecracker sold carrying a pair to Clayrop Cadilac.
The Balquhain flock took the second top price at 7000gns for their first ewe lamb by Castleisle Blackadder, selling to Tom Boden, Sportsmans flock. They went to sell a Rookery Mean Machine ewe lamb for 3000gns and their final Blackadder ewe lamb selling at 2500gns to A Jackson. In the gimmer section Balquhain topped at 4000gns for a Howgillfoot Sniper daughter. She sold to Glen Walt carrying a pair to Blackadder. Balquhain second gimmer in, another Sniper Daughter carrying a pair to Blackadder sold to RJ Woolway for 3000gns
The Carony flock of L & M Liggett enjoyed their trip across the water as their pen leader, by Sportsmans Scholesy, an ET sister to the current NI Female of the Year, sold to Philip Brown and Cannon Hall, Barnsley for 6000gns. Scholesy ewe lambs were in demand as five more sold at 3200, 2800, 2400, 2200 twice. The Liggett’s Birness Thunder 11 ewe lamb found a new home at the Claycrop flock selling at 2500gns
The Carony flock then paid 5000gns for The Lakeview lead gimmer, a Salopain Scuderia daughter, carrying twins to the 6000gn Kings Cross ram purchased at the National sale earlier in the year. Lot 53 Kindly donated from Lakeview Flock raised 3000gns for charity.
Also fetching 5000gns was a Frongoy Cannon daughter from the Kings flock run of ewe lambs. She sold as a half share to Messrs Millar, Duns and Jack Arnott, Roxburghshire. Kings next best, a Kings Cruiser daughter sold to Philip Brown and Cannon Hall farm.
Ballynacannon flock had 3 Limestone Springbok ewe lambs forward topping 2800gns. This one headed to Philip Brown and Cannon Hall Farm for their third purchase of the day. Link House Farm purchased the next best at 2400gns and the final lamb of the day sold to I Craig for 1600gns
Hitting the 4500gns mark was a gimmer from Craig Paterson’s Cranorskie flock. A Birness Banter daughter carrying a pair to Claycrop Cadilac found a new home at the Birness flock.
A Jalex Power House daughter from Cairness sold carrying a pair to Treforian Rocket to D Moir for 2500gns. Another at this price from Cairness a Frongoy Firepower daughter carrying a pair to Strathbogie Showman heads to the same home.
Cairnton’s trade topped at 2500gns for their solo ewe lamb by Bridgeview Belvenie heading to join H Turners flock.
Out with the sale, the Dark Diamond team pulled together a Charity Auction, to raise money for two important charities ‘Young Lives vs Cancer’ and The ‘Schiehallion Ward, Royal Hospital Ward’ in Glasgow. Lots included Genetics, Artwork, Lambing Supplies and a North Country Cheviot Lamb to name but a few.
The sale raised in excess of £18,000.
