           thank you to Harbro for sponsoring this year’s event. There   sold for £1,200
       Twas once again considerable interest on the eve of the sale
       for the show.
        Judge Raymond Dawson (Whinbrae Farm, Aberdeenshire) had a
       challenge picking the winners with some excellent stock brought
       forward in both the Shearling and Lamb classes. Congratulations to G
       Stuart (Birness Flock) for winning the Breed Champion with his Ram
       Lamb (Lot 3661). D Gilmour (Broomknowes Flock) was runner up in the
       Ram Lamb Class and Reserve Breed Champion with Lot 3790. In the
       Shearling Class, J Watson (Brijon Flock) lifted the first ticket for Lot
       2985 and J & E Campbell (Rosebrough Flock) was reserve.

       GL Stuart & Son (Birness) Lot 3661                      As the leading domestic terminal sire breed in the UK and

        Reserve Breed Champion                                Ireland, the Suffolk breed has dominated the ram lamb sales at
                                                              Kelso in recent years and 2018 continues in this vein. Suffolks
       D W M Gilmour (Broomeknowe)                            accounted for 53% of all lamb sales with 49% of the total lamb
                                                              prices. Top price in the lamb ring on the day was J G Douglas
       Lamb Class                                             (Cairness) getting £4,000 sold to Irish breeder Mr T Buck. Next
       1st   G L Stuart & Son (Birness) Lot 3661              was Gary Beacom with £2,800 for his Lakeview ram lamb. There
       2nd  D W M Gilmour (Broomeknowe) Lot 3790              were 212 suffolk lambs sold at an average of £521. Lilburn Estates
       3rd   R H Black (Collessie) Lot 3764                   (Roseden) achieved the top average of £941 selling six rams with a
       4th   S Lathangie (Pyeston) Lot 3680                   top price of £1,800.
                                                               In the shearling ring, A Gray & Sons (Langside) was the top
       Shearling Class                                        performer in Ring 8, clearing 13 sheep at an average of nearly
       1st   J Watson (Brijon) Lot 2985                       £1,055 with a top price of £5,000. The MV registered shearlings
       2nd  J & E Campbell (Roseborough) Lot 2810             in ring 8 cleared 295 sheep with an average of £697. Ring 14,
       3rd   E A & L Jackson (Rugley) Lot 3135                which is for non MV accredited Suffolks, sold 452 shearlings at an
       4th   A Gray & Son (Langside) Lot 2954                 average of £616.              Continued on next page >>
