ur 23rd Annual General Meeting was held at the end
of March with the evening being started off with our Small Flock Ewe Lambs
Ospeaker Ian Campbell from local Abernyte Brewery 1st James Scott
providing us with an insight into the brewing process and some 2nd Leslie Learmonth
samples which went down very well with members!
Once we got down to business we saw the election of Craig Large Flock Ewes
Macpherson, Pitsundry as our new Chairman, Alan Sands, AB 1st Stewart Lathangie Stock Tups
Europe as our Vice Chairman and Peter Wood from United Auctions 2nd Stewart Craft (Lomondview) 1st Limestone Legacy (Mike Black & Stewart Lathangie)

Prime Lamb Competition › Overall Champion Pair of Lambs from Christine Croal, Hollycroft sold for £150 1st Stewart Craft Tup lambs
The first event of the year for our members was our annual Prime Once again we thank our sponsors for their continued support of 2nd Stewart Lathangie 1st Castleisle Gareth (Mike Black)
Lamb competition which was once again held at Forfar Mart by the event; Lawrie & Symington, East Coast Viners Grain, The Horn 3rd Mike Black 2nd Birness Buckshot (Stewart Craft)
kind permission of Lawrie & Symington. We had a good number of Milk Bar and J & T Macpherson, Pitsundry. 3rd Burnview ram lamb (Tom Sands)
entries and the prize winners were as follows:
Local shows
Overall Champion Pair of Lambs The summer shows kicked off with Fife show in May which saw Rosepark Suffolks - ‘CJO’
Stewart Lathangie of Pyeston flock taking the Champion spot with
Christine Croal, Hollycroft his Muirton One Direction ewe.
Reserve Champion Pair of Lambs Other top prizes throughout the season included Clare Anderson Celebrated 30 years of Pedigree breeding in 2018
taking the top spot in the ewe class at the Royal Highland Show
T Sands, Southfield and also Best Female Over 1 Shear. Her Donbraid bred ewe also
went on to be the Overall Champion at Kirriemuir show in July.
Class 1 – Pair Pure Suffolks - 47.5kg and over June also saw James Scott take home the Champion trophy at
1st T Sands, Southfield - 48.5kg Alyth Show for his tup lamb by Redbrae Real Deal.
2nd Christine Croal, Hollycroft - 50.5kg At the end of the show season the show points were gathered
3rd Leslie Learmonth, Wester Oathlaw - 52kg from the five qualifying shows and the shield this year was
presented to Gordon Mackie, Drimmie. No sheep were shown until 2010 due to other commitments. Subsequently, the Flock
Class 2 – Pair Pure Suffolks - under 47.5kg has achieved many show-ring successes and two Certificates of Merit
1st Leslie Learmonth, Wester Oathlaw - 47 kg Store lamb show and sale
2nd T Sands, Southfield This year saw the club take on sponsoring the first show and (Ewe Lambs, 2013 & Flock Ewes, 2016)
sale of store lambs at Forfar Mart. Our Chairman Craig presented
Class 3 – Single Lamb - Pure Suffolk (Only Champion Awarded) the Champion pen of 20 lambs by W & WI Bruges, Laighwood with
Christine Croal, Hollycroft - 60kg their winnings and also the Reserve Champion pen from J & A
Lindsay, Runavey.
Class 4 – Pure Suffolk Ewe (Only Champion Awarded)

Once again we held our annual flock competition in November M M M
